Santa Claus is coming…but how? Santa’s Sleigh Performance Uncovered

Santa's Sleigh

It will soon be Christmas Eve, the night dear old Santa Claus visits millions of children to deliver presents, all in one night. So we got to asking ourselves how does he do this? What would it actually take?

Ladies and gentlemen, blind your kids with the science behind Santa’s busiest night of the year, this is the physics of Santa’s amazing sleigh.

Santa has to deliver presents to 378 million children at 3.5 children per household, making 91.8 million stops on his epic journey. Thanks to time zones he has 31 hours to complete his deliveries – 822.6 visits per SECOND!

Hennessey Venom GTThis equates to a total trip of 75.5 million miles. Here’s the fun bit. Santa must travel at 650 miles per second – 3,000 times the speed of sound! Fastest production car ever made? The Hennessey Venom GT – it was clocked at 270.49mph in early 2014. Nothing on Santa!

Given that Santa would be carrying 380 THOUSAND tonnes of presents, assuming each child got a 2 pound gift, this is even more impressive!

All of this would prove fatal for a normal man and eight normal reindeer. But Santa, as we know, is no normal man, he is magic, which is really all your kids need to know!

Blue Chilli Cars don’t have a lease car available that comes close to this performance – but we do have some pretty good deals on some pretty great cars. Why not treat yourself to a new motor this Christmas?
